Yoga Association of Victoria privacy policy

We respect your privacy, but we need to gather some information about you so that you can participate in what we have to offer through our accommodation and Yoga instruction programs. This information is gathered securely and kept secure and confidential in our paper based and professionally managed information systems.
 

In line with Australian Standards, we only use the information we collect about you for the purposes we have gathered it for and to provide you with a safe and enjoyable experience of your Ashram stay. We also use it to ensure the safe and enjoyable experience for others who use our services of:

• accommodation
• instructions in the practice of Yoga and 
• instructions and guidance in the conduct of Ashram community life. 

We will never share your information with others without your express permission and as part of gaining this permission we will tell you with who and for what reason we are sharing this information.

There are times however when for reason of the safety of yourself or others, that we may have to share your personal information with others. This can be so that your health and wellbeing are managed or the safety and wellbeing of others is protected. Even in these situations we will try to inform you of this sharing of information with others and try to gain your permission first. 

It may be a part of our duty of care to you or others that we share this information with others without your consent, for example when you or another are at risk. 

We respect your privacy whilst at the Ashram but if you are involved in a program of instruction with an outside provider whilst visiting the Ashram, you will need to request and be mindful of their privacy policy. This is important to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable experience of group based discussions or yogic activities which involve you sharing personal information with others through discussion or through use of forms, journaling or reflection. 

Whilst at the Ashram you must take care to respect the privacy of others by not sharing their personal information with others, but you must also be aware that the personal sharing of information with others through discussion with guests cannot be governed by this policy and must be done with care by you. 

We aim to ensure that all instruction provided at the Ashram is done with reputable businesses who have the required insurance to practice the service they offer and we ensure they are aware of and provide services which complement and are aligned with our privacy policy. 

Banking details policy:

• The purpose of collecting any bank/credit card details is for authorized transactions only.
• YAV uses a secure payment gateway to prevent unauthorized access or data breaches.
• YAV only collects the minimum information required for any transaction.
•  All banking information/detail is destroyed or de-identified securely when no longer required.

We regularly review this policy and provide our guests with opportunities to give feedback as part of this review process.
