Yoga Ashram

Yoga Instructors Course

Dimensions of Yoga

These 12 week programs immerse the participant in personal yoga practice through a combination of a week long residential ashram stay followed by 11-12 weeks of supported home practice and study. Develop a personal yoga practice and lifestyle in alignment with one’s goals in life. This process is traditionally referred to as sadhana, the subtle discipline of a lifestyle adopted to reach one’s deeper goals.

Each module takes a branch of yoga (Hatha Yoga: body, breath and energy and Raja Yoga: Eight steps to self understanding), and aligns practical techniques with the study of classic texts. They are highly practical, with a strong foundation in tradition, led by highly experienced teachers, grounded in the Satyananda tradition of Yoga.

Each module includes an integrated and balanced mix of asana, pranayama, and meditation, stories and ideas, with a range of strategies for managing life's challenges to allow our true potential to emerge.

Together the modules offer a substantial and unique package to satisfy the hunger of the serious yoga seeker who aims, with purushartha (effort) and abhyasa (constant practice) and swadhyaya (self reflection), to establish themselves in yoga through the development of practical, reflective and systematic yoga tools to accompany them on their journey through life.

Each module stands on its own, but is also designed to be a complementary component in the Dimensions of Yoga series. The modules may be taken in any order.  These two modules, focused on personal practice, are a foundation for the new course, Yoga Instructor in the Satyananda Tradition and need to be completed before the Yoga Instructor module.

Rocklyn Yoga Ashram, operated by Yoga Association of Victoria Inc. as an autonomous entity,
remains committed to the tradition of Satyananda Yoga and continues the teachings under
the banner of Satyananda Yoga by arrangement with the IYFM.
